Google Maps now includes the option to see UK property search results!

Google Maps has been upgraded to include a new layer of results covering “hundreds of thousands” of properties for sale or rent in the UK. Replicating a service that has been available in Australia, the site allows users to freely view or upload links to UK properties for sale and see the results on a map.

How property search on Google Maps works

Google Maps finally puts all parts of the property picture together. Uploaded property listings are displayed when they match a user’s search, it's that simple. Now potential buyers can get relevant search results, see a property’s location from above and on Street View, explore transit information and driving directions, plus find details on how to contact you. Unlike most other portals, there are NO restrictions on owners listing their own properties, although this is not easy and does require a good deal of effort and technical know-how.

Users searching for terms such as “houses for sale in Manchester” will automatically be shown results, and “property” will now appear under the “More…” menu option on Google Maps.

GR Phelps will feature all our properties on google maps.

Streetview – an essential aid for property buyers

Google Street View is accessed from Google maps and provides street level panoramic photographs from the roads of many UK towns and cities. Here are step by step instructions on how to use Google Street View.

  • Go to Google Maps at maps.google.co.uk
  • Zoom in on a major city.
  • Drag the yellow man icon from the left hand side onto the map.
  • Any street highlighted blue has an available street level view.
  • You will see a small preview of the view in a speech bubble on the map.
  • Drop the icon at the point you want to view from and you will switch to the 3D image.
  • Use the map in the lower left corner to navigate, and use the mouse to pan the main image around. The arrow icons let you move around at street level.
  • The tools on the left hand side allow you to zoom in on the image as well as control the exact angle and direction you wish to view.
  • At launch Google Street View only includes major cities in the UK although this is growing very quickly.
